Thing 4

I found Flickr to be very interesting. I have never considered storing my photos on a server, but I can see where it could be a form of insurance. Putting the photos in sets and tagging them whould also make it much easier to find photos, but it would also take a lot of time to set it all up. I did a little exploring and found some interesting photos. There were some beautiful leaf photos tagged leaf lines by Omni. The picture at the top is one of these, but apparently i still need to figure out exactly how to download it properly. If you click on the box, it will take you to the picture on the Flickr site.

Thing 3

I have successfully set up an RSS feed through Bloglines. I can see where this will be handy, but I can also see it causing me to spend even more time on my computer checking things out. I did have a little trouble adding a couple of sites with the orange button icon because I pushed the button to subscribe. I was told I had subscribed, but they didn't show up on my Bloglines list. I latter discovered them in an Internet Explorer file. Now I have to figure out where that is so I can get rid of it. I still need to work on organizing the Bloglines page. I can see how this could be addicting, so I'm going to start out adding things very selectively. Maybe it will help me eliminate some of my gazillion Favorites bookmarks. I will also have to check out what sites everyone else is suggesting.
The article I read also suggested some ways for using this in the classroom which could be very useful if you have everyone online. I was also amused to discover that there are apparently three main types of Spam that everyone gets, not just me. Unless you add the Rollex watches- that could be a fourth category.

Thing 2

I had no idea what Web 2.0 or Library 2.0 were, even though I'd heard the terms . I'll admit I initially expected to learn about a new computer program. It certainly makes sense that libraries and schools need to move forward in this area and meet the needs of their constituents. I remember being thrilled as a child when our local library got- gasp- a Xerox machine! Although I have some technology background, it is somewhat limited, as is my time. I'm hoping 23 Things on aStick will in essence force me to investigate all of these topics, even it it's not something I think I will personally use. I'm sure I will be surprised by the number of "Things" I will be able to add to my repitoire

Thing 1- blogging

This is my first experience with blogging. I have only seen one blog before this, so I'm not sure what to expect.
